Website Redesign for Influx Recruitment
Influx Recruitment are a recruitment agency based in Fife, Scotland who specialise in the construction, oil and gas, nuclear and rail industries.
Their dedicated team take care of the entire recruitment process, everything from advertising a job to obtaining references. They’re passionate about the careers and successes of their candidates.
About Sharon and Lauren
Owner Sharon and Marketing Executive Lauren are content marketing superstars.
On their blog, they like to share lots of hints and tips for candidates looking for jobs, as well as guidance for recruiters. They present this information in blog post format and as helpful videos.
The Original Website
Before working with us, the website was built using a using a basic template and a DIY editing system. Unfortunately, it didn’t perform well. Search engine rankings were poor and because of this the traffic numbers were low. This meant that all the hard work they’d put into content marketing was going unnoticed.
Sharon and Lauren were also very frustrated with the design of the site. The DIY system meant it was very restrictive and they found it difficult to change even the smallest of details.
Another reason the website didn’t perform well was because they used a generic template. It could have been applied to any business in any industry. It wasn’t created to be a recruitment website, which is probably why it didn’t convert many visitors into leads.
What We Did
We built a bespoke website that was designed to appeal to both recruiters and candidates. It was important that the site spoke to these two separate audiences and that they were enticed into the appropriate sections of the site.
We made the blog a key element of the design by pulling the latest blog posts into the home page. We also transferred all of their blog content from the old site to the new, ensuring they didn’t lose one bit of that fantastic content.
We also built the website using WordPress, this made it easy for Sharon and the team to easily update the site themselves.
We also included an email capture section on each page to encourage people to hand over their contact information in exchange for a useful free guide.
The most important thing we did was create new and improved URLs for each page so that search engines could access the site easier. We then set up 301 redirects so that Google would know where to send all the previous traffic from the old site.
What happened after we launched
We launched the site on the 11th November, 2016, and it couldn’t have gone better. Within a week of going live, the website was ranking higher in search results and traffic numbers were increasing day by day.
Rankings
Pretty much immediately after we launched the website shot up the search engine rankings for their main keywords. The term “recruitment agencies Fife” went from ranking on the third page of Google to the first page and they’ve been there ever since!
As of right now they are now ranked 2nd on the first page.

Sept 16 – 1120 Unique Visitors
Oct 16 – 1428 Unique Visitors
(Site went live on 11th Nov)
Nov 16 – 2224 Unique Visitors (+55% More traffic the the previous month)
Dec 16 – 2287 Unique Visitors (+3% More traffic the the previous month)
Jan 17 – 2996 Unique Visitors (+31% More traffic the the previous month)
Feb 17 – 4130 Unique Visitors. (+37% More traffic the the previous month)
Total increase in traffic between Oct – Feb +189%

Summary
This project was successful because of Sharon’s and Lauren’s dedication to producing high quality content. We wouldn’t have seen such fantastic results JUST from the re-design itself. The website is now a hub of help and advice and it’s not surprising that Google are rewarding them for it. It was a pleasure working with the Influx team and we’re looking forward to working with them going forward.
